WORK-IN-PROGRESS POST FOR THE NEW YEAR

Oh dear!  Wednesday came and went and I forgot to post a snippet from my WIP.  I just finished the second revision of my manuscript, but I am far from done.  Thanks for taking a moment to read this week's post.

***Lord Yelverton had paid her several attentive visits since their first meeting at her uncle’s London establishment.  Few would describe him as less than very handsome.  He had large blue eyes and the build of a well-muscled athlete, but he had a great want of spirit and possessed virtually no sense of humor.  His attentions were flattering but kindled little more in her than a distant appreciation for his kindness.  Those of her acquaintance who noticed his partiality toward her readily expounded on his virtues and her excellent good fortune to have attracted his notice.  To her at this moment he amounted to nothing more than an unwished-for nuisance.  Nevertheless, her flagging patience had not reached its limit.

My second Regency is mainly in the hero’s point-of-view.  Lord Rupert is the rakish son of the Marquess of Lansdowne.  His covert escapades to ferret out a ring of aristocratic criminals requires that he disappear into the British countryside for a short time under a false identity.  Here he meets Alexandra Dancy, a country miss whose family hides its aristocratic origins because they must guard a dark secret.  How can the two overcome the prejudices and hidden identities that divide them?  Sorry, you will just have to wait and read it to learn the answer.

WORK-IN-PROGRESS WEDNESDAY

Hope you enjoy this week's snippet from my WIP.  I am almost done with the first revision.  Yay!
***.
Alexandra’s skin smelled of soap and lilacs.  The sweet intimacy of her hand against his lips ran like liquid metal into his veins and welded yet another link in his attachemt to her.  Determined, he pushed away the thought of how much farther he wanted to douse his senses with her every element and reluctantly stepped back to the chair to retrieve his hat. “I’ll take my leave before you order me out, but be warned. Unless you wish to be endlessly pestered, you must consent to walk with me tomorrow into Whitchurch.  I have something I wish to show you.”

WORK-IN-PROGRESS WEDNESDAY-Thanks for dropping in!

Hope you enjoy this week's snippet from my WIP.  I am almost done with the first revision.  Yay!
***Now, with eyes wide open and fixed on the faintly visible ceiling above him, Rupert allowed his thoughts to weave in and out of the days following that last blow to their love, when sobriety had brought a full realization of his offenses and evoked ineffectual pleas for forgiveness.  His flagrant and frequent indiscretions had finally cost him her devotion.  What had begun as a pleasure bath in wanton self-indulgence soon became an attempt to numb a pain born as much from losing Emily as of disgust for his reckless improprieties.

ENGLISH HISTORICAL FICTION AUTHORS POST

Today's post on our multi-author website has struck a personal chord in me.  I just saw this outstanding movie, "North and South," a couple weeks ago and FELL IN LOVE!  If you love Victorian romance rife with intensity and love, then you will not want to miss seeing this movie.  The acting is superb, and the hero and heroine are first rate.  And of course, I need hardly mention that Richard Armitage is a dream!  I hope you will take a moment and drop in at http://englishhistoryauthors.blogspot.com/ and enjoy Marie Higgins article.

WOW WHAT A STORM HERE YESTERDAY--HURRICANE FORCE WINDS FOR HOURS!!

undefined
Just one picture out of hundreds of them.
Hi everyone, I'm here at the Centerville, UT library trying to do a little online catching up. Internet and power are out still all over our area of Bountiful, Farmington, Centerville, etc. You've probably heard it on the news that we had HOURS of wind that hovered around 100 mph. You wouldn't believe the wreckage EVERYWHERE!!! It looks like a war zone.  The sound of the wind was so ferocious that we didn't sleep from about 2 a.m. on.  I've never heard wind like that before. We lost most of our shingles. Tree parts everywhere and tons of downed trees. Half of the fencs were destroyed. We sat in the dark in our coats and gloves with flashlights last night, and I read to my husband for three hours. It was an adventure, to be sure!
